    Description
    Here's another auction by
    Lone Star Trains and Collectibles,
    Your
    Classic Era Train Headquarters!
SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN to the VERY BOTTOM to see 42 MORE PICTURES!!
You are looking at an interesting American Flyer COMPLETE set from 1959. This one was the LAST Flyer set to have a Northern (or any steam engine I believe) that still had sound.
This is ALOT of vintage train for the money, and an item you will be proud of. Or perhaps you have an American Flyer collector on your gift list.
Please take the time to read the whole description below before bidding. We took time in writing it for you. We look forward to any questions--we answer all emails.
Here is a detailed breakdown of each item for your consideration:
    THE SET BOX #20545:
The set box has the top and bottom. It is original. As you can see, one side has had the outer paper ripped off for some reason. There is a little bit of softness to some of the bottom edges of the cover. The set number printing on the box is actually a factory printed label that looks like the factory put it on over another on the box. This not an uncommon occurance, especially in this time frame.
    THE 4-8-4 UP NORTHERN 21139
The 4-8-4 Northern steam engine carries the famous Union Pacific markings (even the outline of the iconic UP Shield on the front).  There is NO original wrapper or cardboard wrap for this locomotive; it is in a reproduction red and white box. The engine is cosmetically beautiful. The numbering and lettering is still strong. Overall, the paint looks great, as you can see. The only flaw is that one of the numberboards has come off and will need to be reattached by the next owner. This die cast steam engine really looks great.
We tested it, and it runs, cycles, smokes, choochoos and lights.
This engine came in a few variations.
    THIS one:
Uses a two prong PLUG-IN connection between the loco and tender
    Has choochoo sound
    Has smoke
Red glow of smoke in the smokestack
Steam whistle electronics in the tender
    THE TENDER
Is very clean. Box is repro.
ALL OF THE ROLLING STOCK HAVE DIE CAST TRUCKS AND OPERATING KNUCKLE COUPLERS. All have repro boxes.
THE 24029 BANGOR AND AROOSTOOK STATE OF MAINE BOXCAR
The car shows light wear but is still excellent. One of the little door nibs is still present; one is not.
    THE 24048 M&StL Boxcar
This car is CLEAN. The printing is crisp. The paper Peoria decals are here and great. Both sides have the door nibs.
    24076 UNION PACIFIC STOCK CAR
The cattle car looks great, strong printing. One side has the little door nob; one side does not. It is more usually the case that these door nibs are gone (the little tiny protrusion that the latch is supposed to hang on). The fact that any nibs are still here is a bonus.
24209 CRP JERSEY CENTRAL CEMENT HOPPER WITH REMOVABLE TOP
A very clean example of this car.
    24324 HOOKER TANK CAR
The car is the painted version. It is beautiful. Has al four steps of the plastic frame--a rarity.
24557 US NAVY FLAT WITH TWO METAL JEEPS
The gray flat with the black printing is om good shape with some edge rubs in the paint. All four steps are present.  This is the version of the flatcar with the one piece brakewheel stand. That piece is missing, so you will want to replace.
    THE 24633 CABOOSE
Silver caboose with red lettering. If you look closely, you can see light evidence of handling, but it does really look great. There is a very light scratch in the roof, hard to see but there. If you want to clean, it is up to you, but it sure looks nice.
    The box is nice.
    TRACKAGE, ETC
One box of CURVED TRACK in a repro white box
PLEASE--for the Love of AC GILBERT--ask any questions you may have before bidding.
We have provided 24 supersizable pictures--take advantage of them and look at every detail before bidding. ****There are even 42 more pictures below under the "ADDED DESCRIPTION".***
Note that this collector did not always leave the track and transformer with each set as they usually tear up the box. Given the amazing pieces here, track and transformer are the least of your concerns.
NO RESERVE. So this means that as soon as there is a bid, there is a winner. It also means that the Buy It Now will go away at that point. The Buy It Now is there just in case you gotta have it and do not want to take a chance on missing it.
